Common Questions
What People Often Ask
What does a pension entitlement review actually involve?
We examine the documents relating to your pension scheme — including any correspondence from your employer or the relevant authority — and set out clearly what you are entitled to receive, when, and under what conditions. We also flag any areas where the records appear inconsistent or where a formal question may be worth raising. A written plain-language summary is provided at the end of the review.
My pension payment was reduced without explanation. Can you help?
Yes. This is one of the more common matters we see. We would begin with a review of the relevant documents to understand the basis for the change, then advise on whether there is a reasonable case to raise a dispute and what the process for doing so looks like. We never make assurances about outcomes, but we do aim to give you a clear, honest picture of your position.
How long does the dispute representation process take?
It depends on the complexity of the matter and how the other party responds. Some disputes are resolved through correspondence within a few weeks; others proceed to formal hearings and take several months. We will give you a realistic estimate once we have reviewed the specifics of your situation, and we keep you updated at each stage so there are no surprises.
My spouse passed away. What are my entitlements from their pension?
Survivor entitlements vary depending on the type of pension scheme, the terms your spouse was enrolled under, and whether any nomination forms were filed. Our Retirement Benefits Advisory service covers exactly these questions. We work through the paperwork with you at a steady pace and explain each aspect clearly before moving to the next step.
Do I need to attend your office in person?
An initial in-person meeting is helpful and gives us a better understanding of your situation, but it is not always necessary for every stage. For clients who are not able to travel to our Kuala Lumpur office, we can arrange consultations by telephone or video call for most services.
Are your fees fixed or do they vary?
The Pension Entitlement Review (RM 160) and the Retirement Benefits Advisory (RM 380) are set-fee services. Dispute Representation (from RM 630) may vary depending on the scope of the matter, but we discuss the full cost picture with you before committing to any work. You will never receive a bill for something that was not agreed in advance.
